Alvaro Giraldo, M.D., M.A., psychotherapist and psychiatrist is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and by the Board of Psychotherapy and Professional
Counseling. One of the area’s leading professionals practicing Jungian Psychoanalysis, he also specializes in analytical psychology and spiritual direction.

Dr. Giraldo earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Javeriana University School of medicine in Bogota, Colombia, South America followed by an internship and residency in Pathology at St. John’s Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. He completed a fellowship in Pathology of Cancer at The University of Texas as well as fellowships in Immunology and Histocompatibility and Molecular Biology at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.

Wanting to explore the more spiritual side of Medicine, Dr. Giraldo went on to obtain a master degree in Counseling and Pastoral Counseling from the Ashland Theological Seminary as well as his diploma in Analytical Psychology from the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts at C.G. Jung Institute in Pittsburgh, a journey of eleven years. Dr. Giraldo completed his residency training program in Psychiatry at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He is certified in spiritual direction by the Manresa Jesuit Retreat House, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Dr. Giraldo’s practice, Jungian Analytic SC, aims to combine aspects of the body, psychotherapy and spirituality to help patients achieve inner peace and wisdom.
